++money can't buy music biography

Following on from his success with Edinburgh based band ballboy, front man Gordon McIntyre, announces his new solo project “Money Can’t Buy Music”.

Over the last 6 years Gordon has released 4 albums and numerous singles with ballboy. His dry wit and imaginative story telling combined with his use of strong bold images, and depth of emotion poured into each song, has gained him a devoted fan following. Not least of whom was the late great John Peel, who invited the band to record sessions for the show five times. This included a Christmas show in 2003 which was broadcast live from his house. Tracks from the band have featured in the Festive Fifty every year for the past 5 years (11 tracks in total).

“Money Can't Buy music" is a step away from full band sound and possesses an intimacy and diary like quality that can be missing from collaborative affairs. It explores the use of new technologies, such as drum loops and samples mixed with traditional singer-songwriter techniques, to create a diverse range of melodic sounds. However although it is a solo project in every sense of the word with ideas for the writing, singing, music and artwork coming from Gordon it also includes contributions from other people as and when the need or desire arises. A full list of collaborators will be shown on the Money Can't Buy Music website. Gordon has taken the project as an opportunity to consider other musical influences, but still characteristically manages to capture and condense emotions into his songs. With the subject matter of the songs range from the epic disaster movie song “Godzilla Vs The Island of Manhattan (and you and I somewhere in between)” to a song written entirely using Apple's Garageband software explaining why men shouldn’t wear women’s underwear even if it is just for a laugh.

“Money Can’t Buy Music” will release their debut single "We will all asphyxiate" on 14th November prior to a full album release February. Live dates are planned to coincide with both of these events. Details of these will follow.
