based in edinburgh, degrassi formed in late 1999, and have received critical acclaim from the likes of nme, melody maker, radio 1, and much of scotland's music press.

degrassi have played extensively over the past two years, touring with cinerama and 80’s matchbox b-line disaster around the uk, and playing in ireland with belfast band throat. they’ve supported the likes of faust and mc5’s frontman wayne kramer in edinburgh, and played a five week residence at glasgow’s prestigious 13th note club. the band have twice been invited to play at the scottish music festival, t in the park, in 2001 and 2002.

after recording a demo in 2001, that was picked up by the evening session, they were asked to record a session for the peel show in the famous maida vale studios in london, and were signed to edinburgh indie label sl records. they were asked back to maida vale to play a live session on the john peel show as part of a sl records night in 2002.

after receiving funding from the scottish arts council they began working with acclaimed international producer micheal brennan (super furry animals, mogwai etc) at his studio in rosyth. so far they’ve recorded two eps there, releasing the first ep, "terminal ocean", in june 2002. this limited edition ep quickly sold out. their second ep, "the form" is out in october.
